Vow of Adoration/Vow of Devotion/Vow of Fidelity

This collection of three detective stories features the sleuth Sister Joan. In "Vow of Adoration," Brother Cuthbert and Detective Sergeant Alan Mill are both away. Sister Joan of the Daughters of Compassion must rely on her wits when she finds the body of a tramp in an abandoned chapel. In the course of her investigations she must also learn the difference between adoration and infatuation. In "Vow of Devotion," the convent of the Daughters of Compassion is short of postulants, and the impending visit of two girls thinking about entering the order is greeted with pleasure. But when Sister Joan goes to greet them, little does she realize that murder and obsession will follow hard on their heels. In "Vow of Fidelity," Sister Joan goes to London for an Art School reunion. She discovers that three former colleagues have recently met violent deaths. Once again, this modern nun must solve a crime with the help of her friend, Detective Sergeant Alan Mill, and balance the demands of justice with her convent life.
