Gossie, a fuzzy yellow baby goose, likes to wear her bright red boots every day But one morning she can't find them. Olivier Dunrea, author, artist, and master craftsman, has created a charming story that contains a tiny mystery, too. The gentle lines and occasional rhymes in this lost-and-found tale make Gossie irresistible to beginning readers. It has received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, The Horn Book, and School Library Journal.

This story of Gossie the gosling will be attractive to very young children because it contains soothing repetition. Linda Stephens reads emphatically and cheerfully, adding emotion when Gossie loses her favorite boots. She sounds matronly, like a warm grandmother. Each word is spoken definitively, to aid early readers. Unfortunately, the tape is so short that the promotional message at the end, read by a male narrator, is as long as the story. A.G.H.
